Mountains to Sea Trail
Mountains to the Sea Trail is easily accessible and enables outdoor enthusiasts to appreciate the diversity of
The Irvine Ranch open spaces.
On the Mountains to Sea Trail, the only constant is change, as the saying goes. Beginning in untamed, oak-filled Weir Canyon in the northern reaches of The Irvine Ranch, the trail treats travelers to a shifting array of topography and scenery as it passes through portions of five towns and cities and unincorporated Orange County, ultimately ending 22 miles later at Upper Newport Bay. The Mountains to Sea Trail’s location in the heart of urban Orange County makes it an easily accessible recreational amenity that can be explored partially or in its entirety by outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. In 2006, it was designated a “National Recreation Trail” by the National Park Service Rivers and Trails Assistance Program.
